At the San Diego Comic-Con IDW Publishing announced that New York Times bestselling author Max Brooks (World War Z) will write a five-issue G.I. Joe mini-series. Brooks wrote for Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2003 and won an Emmy for his efforts. Brooks’ World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, which was published in 2006, spent four weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List.
The G.I. Joe mini-series will be Brooks’ first opportunity to write for IDW and his first chance to work on what he called “an icon of my youth.”
