Titan has elected to release its Simon & Kirby superheroes collections in a single 480-page volume, rather than in two volumes as originally announced (see “Titan Plans More Simon & Kirby”). The Simon & Kirby Superheroes omnibus edition will be released in summer 2010.
The page size will be bigger (11” x 7-12”) than originally planned for the two-volume versions, allowing this Golden Age-sized material to be presented in their original printed size. The stories will be restored by Kirby historian Harry Mendryk, and presented on matte stock in vivid color. The volume will be edited by Steve Saffel.
The collection will include all of the superhero stories by Simon & Kirby except for their work for Marvel and DC, including Captain 3-D (with art by Mort Meskin and a young Steve Ditko) in color for the first time, a never-before-published Stuntman story, and the Black Owl series from 1940, when Simon & Kirby first began working together.
