The Lucca Comics and Games Festival has invited a fantasy artist as Artist Guest of Honor for the first time in 43 years.  Acclaimed Magic: The Gathering illustrator Donato Giancola, also known for his videogame and Tor book covers, will fill the role normally held by a comic artist.  Monte Cook is the Game Designer Guest of Honor, and boardgame creator Bruno Faidutti will also appear.

 

The Writer Guest of Honor will be Elric creator Michael Moorcock, who will be accompanied by famed Elric cover artist Robert Gould.

 

The posters for this year’s event are by Rick Berry and Phil Hale.

 

The first comic show in this area was 43 years ago (longer than San Diego Comic-Con’s 40 years).  This year's show will be held from October 29th through November 1st in Lucca, Italy.
