Hector Diaz of Jumpgate in Portsmouth, New Hampshire was prompted by Marvel's reduction in the amount of advance info it provides (see 'Gabriel of DreamStrands Comics on No Marvel Info') to say 'their loss:'

Looking at Previews and seeing how little information there is on new Marvel titles makes me shrug my shoulders and say, 'their loss'.

When we place orders we start with a baseline number that is based on an average of previous sales and the number of subscriptions we have for the title . . . THEN . . . we look at the description of the title to decide whether we should stock up higher (or lower) based on creative teams, events, storylines and so on.  Without that information, we'll simply go on our baseline numbers and Marvel loses potential sales.  In a way, they are saving us money.

What we won't do is stock up heavy on the off chance that the title will be a hit.  There are too many titles to gamble that way.

Praise for the publishers who support retailers and back up their books.  If you have a good product, make it available!
