Disguise, the Halloween costume division of toymaker Jakks Pacific, has created a Women of Marvel line of costumes for 2009.  For Marvel, the line of costumes that includes Spider-Girl, American Dream, Black Cat, Emma Frost, and Black-Suited Spider-Girl is a chance to broaden its appeal to the female demographic.  The costumes are available for a number of different age groups in a range of styles ranging from demur versions for little girls to sexy numbers for college coed Halloween partiers.

 

Paul Gitter, Marvel’s President of Consumer Products, explained the impetus behind the new line this way: “We continually look for ways to broaden the awareness of and maximize the potential of the Marvel universe among all audiences, and the launch of the Women of Marvel collection addresses the growing demand across the female demographic with high quality, fashion forward merchandise featuring the most relevant Marvel brands.”
