The Comics Journal is moving to a new format and frequency with issue #300, as it moves more content onto the TCJ.com Website.  The new Comics Journal will be an expanded semi-annual publication, each volume sized and formatted to fit its content.  The content for the magazine will be “interviews, articles, and objet d’art.”

Fantagraphics is simultaneously expanding the TCJ Website, to include more content from new and established bloggers, plus interviews, columns, criticism, and news coverage in text and videos, slide shows, audio files, and original-art galleries.

The Comics Journal, once a b/w magazine on newsprint, had evolved into a perfect-bound publication on higher quality paper distributed through book channels as well as to comic stores.  This latest evolution seems to take it further toward the book end of the spectrum and away from its roots as a magazine, undoubtedly a positive move from a business point of view.
