Moonstone has announced that it will be publishing The Green Hornet Chronicles, an anthology of stories starring the 1960s crime fighter, in June 2010.  Edited by Jon Gentile and Win Scott Eckert, the collection will feature new stories from Green Hornet writers Ron Fortier and James Van Hise; a story fragment by science fiction legend Harlan Ellison; an introduction by actor Van Williams, who played the Green Hornet in the 1960s television series; and an afterword by Dean Jeffries, the designer of Green Hornet’s car, “Black Beauty.”  Ruben Procopio will provide interior and cover art.

This publication is scheduled to tie in with the original July 2010 release date of Green Hornet movie written and produced by Seth Rogan (see “’Green Hornet’ Gets Seth Rogan”), though the movie’s release has since been moved to December 17th, 2010 (see “‘Green Hornet’ Delayed”).  The movie stars Rogan as Green Hornet, Jay Chou as his sidekick Kato (see “Kato Cast”), and Christopher Waltz as villain Chudnofsky (see “’The Green Hornet’ Gets Its Villain”).

Dynamite Entertainment is also planning Green Hornet releases for 2010, with comic series being written by Matt Wagner, Brett Matthews, and Kevin Smith (see “Dynamite Plans Three ‘Green Hornet’ Miniseries”).

Three editions of Moonstone’s The Green Hornet Chronicles will be available.  The standard issue will be released with two cover editions.  The limited hardcover edition will feature notes from Ellison on his story and a Green Hornet radio-drama-turned-story by Anthony Tollin.  There will also be a limited edition slipcase hardcover which will be signed and numbered by Procopio.
