Checker Books of Dayton, Ohio specializes in acquiring the book rights to comic material that has never been collected or is out of print.  Checker has already published Alien Legion and Hellraiser collections (see 'Checker to Publish Clive Barker's Hellraiser'), and the company just announced a three-book deal with Rob Liefeld to publish the Alan Moore-scripted runs on Supreme and Youngblood.  The first book to be published under the agreement will be Supreme: The Story of the Year, which is due in November and will retail for $26.95.  The Story of the Year, which began in Supreme #41, includes numerous flashbacks to past comic eras, making it a natural for comics fans who enjoy the history of the medium.  As an added bonus, cover artist extraordinaire Alex Ross works his magic on Supreme: The Story of the Year.

Checker Books, which has already published comic collections written by such notable authors as Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman, and Chuck Dixon, is clearly interested in Supreme and Youngblood because Alan (Watchmen) Moore wrote for both series -- and the Checker deal only covers the issues written by Moore.  Here's more proof, if you need it, of the current ascendancy of the writer (see 'Full Circle -- The Writer on Top').  Checker Books are available to pop culture retailers via Diamond and FM International, and to regular bookstores through Midpoint (see 'Checker Book Group Chooses Midpoint').
