The sixth and final volume in Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim series, Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour is due out on Tuesday. Oni Press has revealed that the final chapter in Scott Pilgrim’s pursuit of Ramona Flowers will have a mammoth (for a graphic novel) first printing of 100,000 copies. Given the way in which the Scott Pilgrim series has been dominating graphic novel sales in bookstores in the run-up to the release of Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie on August 13th (see “Scott Pilgrim Grows Large in Bookstores”), it might not be too long before a second printing of Scott Pilgrim #6 is required.
The New York Times reports that 150 comic book stores will be open at a midnight on Monday so that “impatient readers” will be able to get their hands on the 248-page final installment of the saga at the earliest possible moment.
Meanwhile Universal, which produced the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie, is going all-out to publicize the film at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con (see “Universal’s Scott Pilgrim vs. Comic-Con”).
