BOOM! Studios has announced that Mark Waid has been promoted to Chief Creative Officer and Managing Editor Matt Gagnon has been promoted to Editor in Chief.  Waid took the position of EIC at BOOM! in 2007 and has overseen tremendous growth at the company, which has launched a number of successful initiatives in various comic book categories from the underserved kids’ sector to the highly competitive superhero arena.  In addition to his duties as EIC, Waid also found the time to write Irredeemable, the innovative superhero title that has been nominated for 3 Eisner and 2 Harvey Awards.

Matt Gagnon, who joined BOOM! Studios in 2008, gained plenty of retailing and industry experience at cutting edge retailer Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles.  Gagnon has brought a number of key creators to BOOM! including Hexed’s Emma Rios, The Unknown’s Minck Oosterveer, and Irredeemable’s Peter Krause.
