This week at the San Diego Comic-Con Dark Horse Comics will unveil The Strange Case of Hyde, a new comic written by screenwriter Cole Haddon (Thieves of Baghdad) that has already been optioned for the big screen by David Ellison’s Skydance Productions and producer Mark Gordon (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Saving Private Ryan, Speed, Grey’s Anatomy).
Haddon is writing the screenplay for Hyde, which is not just a rehashing of Robert Lewis Stephenson’s Victorian classic, though it does retain the late 19th Century English setting of the original. Rather than the atavistic personification of all that is bad in human nature, according to The Hollywood Reporter, this Hyde is an “antihero… who goes head-to-head against a historical villain.”
