Sci Fi Channel has announced that the current season of Farscape, its fourth, will be its last on the network. According to the announcement, 'Farscape has been unable to grow beyond its core fan base. That, coupled with the extreme and growing cost of production, has led to the difficult decision to end the series....'
Unfortunately for pop culture retailers, the core fan base of which the announcement speaks has kept Farscape merchandise on a number of our Top 10 Cool lists, and continues to drive merchandise sales (see 'Farscape Season 1 DVD Box Set Out for Holidays'). Sci Fi's decision will not take effect for some time; the unaired episodes from Season 4 will begin appearing in January. With the kind of fan support the show has, perhaps by then it will have found a place for Season 5.
