According to Variety, Roger Corman, Hollywood's reigning 'B-Movie King,' is planning a return to theatrical filmmaking with Captain Justice, a superhero-themed feature budgeted at $3 million.  By way of comparison, that production budget for Captain Justice is about one fortieth of the amount that Sony spent on Spider-Man.  Corman, who made some excellent movies early in his career and who also helped spur the careers of filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola and Jack Nicholson, has had a poor track record lately and is responsible for some real disasters including the largely unseen Fantastic Four film.

Production on Captain Justice, which will be written and directed by Victoria Lakeman, will begin next spring.  According to Variety Corman plans to bring back his late, unlamented comic book imprint, Cosmic Comics in order to publish a Captain Justice comic.  Older fans might remember Cosmic Comics, which were edited by Robert Boyd (recently in the news in his role at the recently departed LPC, and now CDS), and which included a few decent titles such as Pat Mills' Deathrace 2020.
