Mike Clark of Showcase Comics in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania read Kendall Swafford's recent column regarding the role of DC's Sales Reps (see "Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk--Random Thoughts") and had this to say in response:
Kendall Swafford's comments about Pat at DC were totally out of line. Many other comic stores have for years done their own publicity, and worked with comic publishers. Stores don't need their hands held and all the work done by a publisher to sell comics. As he points out, the name of his store implies he should be celebrating a big event like this. Time to get to work Ken and not yell about why someone else isn't doing the work for you. Your store, your responsibility.
