Randy Martin of Comics Plus in Los Banos, California has been following the recent discussion surrounding Kendall Swafford's DC Sales Reps comments (see "Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk--Random Thoughts") and has this to say:
I would like to comment on what retailers are saying about DC Reps. I wish I could have first hand knowledge of what retailers are saying about DC Reps, but I don't because in the 17 years I have been in business I have never had a DC Rep contact me about anything. Therefore, in my opinion, DC Reps could do more. Now, I must say that considering my sales I would be considered a small store in a small town (32,000 people). Therefore, maybe my store would be considered not worth the time and Superman will not be visiting my town. Nevertheless, I have kept it going for 17 years and that should be enough to at least get a DC Rep to call once in awhile.
After saying that I would like to say that after seeing some of DC's promotions and going to a few Retailer Summits over the years I do think that DC does a lot more for retailers than Marvel. DC, for the most part, acts as if they want to help retailers get more sales and DC is more in-tune with retailers needs. Therefore, for those of you out there making comments, all I have to say is at least you have something to comment about.
