DC Comics has announced the publication of Superman: The 10-Cent Adventure on January 1, 2003.  The ultra-cheap comic featuring The Man of Steel follows closely on the heels of the 'phenomenal success' of Batman: The 10-Cent Adventure.  The Superman 10-Cent comic will be an all-new 32-page full color comic (with 22 pages of story and art) that will introduce the new Superman creators, writer Stephen Seagle, penciler Scott McDaniel, and inker Andy Owens.  Unlike Batman: The 10-Cent Adventure, the dime Superman book will not be primarily an origin story with a page introducing a new storyline -- it will be a stand-alone adventure that will serve to introduce a new dangerous universe that will permeate other titles including the Adventures of Superman and Action Comics as well as Superman.

For retailers the 10-Cent Superman should prove to be an excellent outreach tool for anyone who has watched Superman movies, TV series, or cartoons.  Thanks to continued outreach activities such as low-priced issues and Free Comic Book Day (see FCBD Gears Up For 2003'), as well as to a pipeline well stocked with comic book-based films, the prospects for continued growth in comic book sales over the next twelve months appear to be good.
