Troma Entertainment’s Toxic Avenger is back in a big way, with a film set to premiere on August 29, 2025 (see “‘Toxic Avenger’ Trailer”) and two different comics treatments in the works.

Legendary Comics will publish The Toxic Avenger, a graphic novel anthology that is based on the world of the film, which will be available at retail on September 2 as a paperback with an MSRP of $19.99.  Legendary is also teaming up with Rocketship to launch a Kickstarter on August 11 to fund a deluxe hardcover edition, which will have two extra stories plus other bonus content.  The standard edition will include the following stories:

  • “Troma Aroma,” written by Rick Spears with art by James Callahan
  • “New York,” written by Ivan Brandon with art by Fabiana Mascolo
  • “Unkie Helmut,” written by Umar Ditta with art by Axel Medellin
  • “Scum Kitten,” written by Janet Harvey with art by Sam Curtis and Edgar Tadeo
  • “Toxie & Atticus,” written by Walter Chaw with art by Lane Lloyd
  • “Damaged Goods,” written and drawn by Jonas Goonface
  • “Workin’ Stiff,” written by Michael W. Conrad with art by Noah Bailey
  • “The Terrible & Terrifying True Tale of Making The Toxic Avenger(Again),” written by Macon Blair with art by Joe Flood

Ahoy Comics, meanwhile, has launched an ongoing series, The Toxic Avengers Comics, with original stories written by Matt Bors that follows last year’s miniseries (see “Matt Bors on New ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Comic Series”).  Each issue of the new series will have a different artist and focus on a different genre.  The first, released in July, was a horror comic with art by Fred Harper, the artist for the miniseries. Subsequent issues will highlight crime, sci-fi, romance, and fantasy comics, in that order.

“When I first approached Lloyd Kaufman and Troma about reviving the Toxic Avenger in comics, I wasn't modest,” Bors said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “I pitched a new origin, outrageous new characters, and a fully mapped-out, mopped-up, multi-year storyline.  Now, Fred Harper and I have been given the green light to go fucking nuts.”

Ahoy is also publishing Toxie Team-Up, which brings the Toxic Avenger together with different characters from other Ahoy titles.
