Ilan Strasser of Fat Moose Comics and Games in Whippany, New Jersey comments on Dan Urazandi's remarks regarding publishers releasing new ongoing stories as their FCBD selections (see "Dan Urazandi of Bizarro World on FCBD 2010") and responds.

Dan Urazandi wrote to say that his regular customers would resent not having the War of the Supermen #0 title, especially if they read the Superman titles and would miss having the lead-in story to a major miniseries.  I wonder what Dan's methodology is for handling orders for Free Comic Book Day titles?

It seems his problem is easily solved by ordering the number of copies he needs to give them to his regular customers--after all, don't they deserve a reward for supporting him week after week throughout the year?  And then having a reasonable number to give out to the new faces he'll see on FCBD.  Worried about extras?  Dan can always give them out next year and have even more to offer next year's new faces.  Some may seek out the individual issues after reading the #0, and others may seek out the trade.  Seems like a win-win to me.  FCBD is an opportunity to please both new and old customers, and if done right, keeps both spending at your store for at least some time to come.
