The Itochu Corporation is set to release Japanese manga on the Apple iPhone in the U.S. and Canada in October.  Itochu will start with 30 titles including Kamen Rider, Cyborg 009, and other titles by manga pioneer Shotaro Ishinomori.  While the first chapter of each title will be free, subsequent chapters will sell for $1.00 each.

According to the Japanese Website animeanime.biz (via The Anime News Network), the 30 titles that will be released in October will be followed by manga from Harlequin Comics for a total of 100 titles that will be available by next spring.

Itochu’s declaration follows hard on the heels of an earlier emanga announcement from Square Enix (see “Square Enix Launching E-Manga”).
