Don Bunning of Hobby Horse in Decatur, Illinois was prompted by a link in our article on a recent Jemas/Quesada interview (see 'Jemas Says Comic Order Numbers 'Directly from Diamond'') to note that great orders only mean great sales when the books ship:

In your story 'Jemas Says Comic Order Numbers 'Directly from Diamond'' you link to another story 'The Chair' where there is an interview with both Joe Quesada and Bill Jermas.

In this interview I found Quesada's response to the second-to-last question very interesting and slightly ironic.

Quesada says: 'Last September the highest selling Marvel comic, The Ultimates did not exist.  Black Cat was also not in publication yet.  That is a considerable amount of units that put a lot of money in retailers hands that your question is ignoring.'

What I find funny about this is that both of these 'highest selling Marvel comics' are in fact late.  Just how much money does Quesada think we retailers have in our hands from books that never arrive?
