Doorways is the comic book adaptation of a legendary but never broadcast television series. It fell through the cracks as network executives changed, frustrating fans greatly at the time. Other than a direct-to-video edit of the pilot, none of it has ever been seen. Over the years, George R. R. Martin has had great success both in television and in print, but he and his fans have always had a fondness for this "missing" work.
The basic premise is initially simple: a relatively normal human gets caught up in an adventure with a woman from another world, or an alternate reality or... You see, she isn’t alone, and has been pursued from that other place. The two get caught in a figurative and literal crossfire between these otherworldly beings and agents of the U.S. government, which is very interested in the whole situation.
Artist Stefano Martino has done a good job with creating devices and weapons that feel like they're "not from around here." Martin has had other works adapted for comics, and has a good feel for how much story can be told on a comics page.
For teens and adults, in terms of writing style and due to violence.
