Miami Book Fair has expanded its comic programming this year, with special emphasis on programming for educators and librarians and for kids and teens.  For the third year (2008 was the first, see “Spiegelman Does Miami Book Fair Poster”), Diamond Book Distributors is partnering with Miami Book Fair International to create comics and graphic novel programs for professionals and consumers.

The School of Comics for Educators and Librarians has been moved up from Friday to Thursday (November 18th), and will feature five sessions.

And in addition to teen-focused programs, Kids Comic Con, developed by Alex Simmons, will include workshops and author programs for young readers and would-be creators.  Events through the weekend will include programs on how to create comics, the world of comics journalism, and the creation of Webcomics.

Among the talent appearing at the event are Jimmy Palmiotti, Greg Rucka, Sid Jacobsen, Raina Telgemeier, Jenni Holm, Kim Deitch, Lynda Barry, Amanda Conner, Dean Haspiel, Jaime Hernandez, Chip Kidd, Brad Meltzer, Joe Sacco, and Denis Kitchen.  Over 50 creators, authors, and illustrators will appear.
