Hasbro has decided not to release its Transformers Spastic figure in the UK, according to Seibertron.  The name is viewed as offensive to the disabled in the UK, and Hasbro pulled the toy in response to concerns over it, as reported earlier by the Daily Record.  “The Transformers brand intended no offense by use of the name “Spastic” for one of its products which has not and will not be available via traditional retail channels in Europe, including the UK,” a statement from Hasbro said.  “…Our goal is to have all families who enjoy our brands feel good about their purchases and experiences.”

The term is not seen in the same light in the U.S., and Hasbro appears to be on course to distribute the toy in North America next month.
