Telgemeier’s Facing Feelings is a memoir of sorts, based on an exhibit of her work at The Ohio State University’s Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. Rated for ages 8-12, the book is a mix of text, artwork, and comics in which she tells the story of her upbringing and how she became a cartoonist. The 240-page hardcover will go on sale on October 21 with an MSRP of $26.99.
The Graphix adaptations of Tui T. Sutherlands Wings of Fire novels have been best-sellers for years (see “Full Year 2024 Circana BookScan”), and now they are adding a standalone companion volume, Darkstalker, based on the first Wings of Fire: Legends novel. Darkstalker, with art by Jake Parker, is rated for ages 8-12 and will go on sale on November 4, 2025, as a paperback with an MSRP of $14.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $24.99. Friendship Upgrade!, by Steve Foxe and Mike Laughead, is based on the Roblox Pet Simulator game and includes three stories featuring Whiskers the cat, Ruffles the dog, and Penny the unicorn. Foxe wrote the Spider-Ham series for Scholastic and is also the writer of a number of adult properties, including Razorblades and Creepshow. Friendship Upgrade! is rated ages 7-10 and will be released on October 7 as a paperback with an MSRP of $12.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $24.99. Max, A Little Axolotl #1, by Joey Spiotto is another book for ages 7-10, this one aimed squarely at fans of Narwhal and Jelly. Max is starting a new school in this first book in the series, which will be published on September 2 as a paperback with an MSRP of $12.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $24.99. Refugee: The Graphic Novel, is adapted from Alan Gratz’s 2017 novel and features art by Syd Fini. The story follows three refugees: Josef, a Jewish boy fleeing Nazi Germany in the 1930s; Isabel, a Cuban girl making the perilous journey a raft to escape unrest in her home country in 1994; and Mahmoud, a Syrian boy traveling across Europe in 2015. The original novel, also published by Scholastic, was a New York Times best-seller.
