Archie Comics has formally announced its second comic book magazine, Veronica & Betty, which is set for a Spring/Summer 2011 debut.  The new mass market-oriented title will take Veronica and Betty away from Riverdale as the gorgeous duo become exchange students and engage in worldwide adventures written by “Archie Wedding” and Life With Archie writer Michael Uslan.  As ICv2 reported from the New York Comic Con, the Veronica & Betty Magazine will not only feature the eponymous teenage belles, but also the two seriously cute foreign exchange students who come to Riverdale to temporarily take the places of the longtime Archie Comics heroines (see “It’s Back to the Future For Archie”).

The new Veronica & Betty Magazine will follow in the successful footsteps of Archie Comics’ Life With Archie Magazine, which is getting great mass market distribution (see “Life With Archie in TRU”) and has a newsstand sell-through of 60%.  The first issue of Veronica & Betty combines “The Whole New World/Exchange Student" comic story written by Uslan and illustrated by Dan Parent with traditional teen-oriented feature articles about subjects such as The Twlight love triangle and “Selena vs. Dakota” of interest to Archie’s core preteen and tween demographic.
