Marvel has announced that Axel Alonso will be the new Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Entertainment, reporting to Publisher and President (Print, Animation, and Digital Divisions) Dan Buckley.  Joe Quesada, who’s been Marvel’s EIC for ten years, will focus on his Chief Creative Officer duties (see “Joe Q Now CCO”).

Alonso has been an editor at Marvel since 2000, and an Executive Editor since 2003 (see “Alonso Gets Promotion”).  In 2010, Alonso got the additional title of Vice-President.

In his new role, Alonso will oversee Marvel’s Publishing division, advising on creative direction and storylines, as well as working on creative aspects of “larger corporate initiatives involving Marvel’s popular library.”

In a related change, Tom Brevoort has been promoted to Senior Vice President--Publishing.
