Cyptozoic Entertainment and Penny Arcade have announced a newly formed partnership to bring the Webcomic, The Lookouts to the hobby space with a series of products including a Lookouts digital comic book, a deluxe RPG board game, a role-playing game, and a digital game for the iPhone, iPad, iPad Touch, and Android.  The first two Lookouts products released will be the digital comic, which is due out in the fall of 2011, and The Lookouts Board Game, which is slated for release in early 2012.

 

Penny Arcade’s D&D-infused Lookouts strips are equal parts comics and commentaries. The protagonists Tycho and Gabe are the alter egos of Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Hopkins. The Lookouts digital comics will be an extension of the setting that fans already know and love. There will be more adventures as The Lookouts learn the ways of the Eyrewood Forest and how to live along side it.

 

In the Lookouts Board Game, which contains plenty of RPG elements, players will be able to customize their own Lookouts character and experience magic as they navigate the forest and face its challenges. Each player will gain abilities and skills based on the merit badges they earn, becoming more powerful as they cross difficult terrain, face menacing creatures, and endure other hardships.
