Artist Molly Crabapple has created an 8’ x 7’ piece of original pen and ink art that is being auctioned by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. The piece was drawn during the Stumptown Comics Festival, and incorporates suggestions from attendees.

“I love the energy of creating something massive surrounded by a crowd,” Crabapple said, “and to feed off that energy and draw something that I love.  It was an honor to make an art monster for CBLDF.”

Crabapple has done work for Marvel and DC, founded Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, and is working on a graphic novel for First Second.

The Fund is mobilizing to address new attacks on comics and a spate of issues related to crossing the U.S.-Canada border (see “Comics Seized Crossing Border”).

The auction is here.
