Yen Press had six titles in the Top 20 adult graphic novels in bookstores in May, according to data compiled by Nielsen BookScan. May was the first month that Yen Press has had more volumes in the Top 20 than any other manga publisher. Although VIZ Media had the #1 title for May, Black Bird Vol. 8, and undoubtedly remains the #1 manga publisher, Yen’s Top 20 showing demonstrates the momentum the Hachette imprint has gained. Yen was helped by two volumes of Maximum Ride: The Manga, which placed at #2 and #16.
