At Comic-Con, Udon, the Ontario-based art collective announced that it has signed an agreement with Marvel and Capcom to produce a book of design and production artwork as well as new art pieces. Although the title of the collection has not yet been released, it is obvious that the book will be based on the popular series of Marvel vs. Capcom video games.
 
The Marvel/Capcom volume, which won’t be out until well into 2012, will join a growing list of superbly-produced art books announced at San Diego that are due in the final quarter of 2011 and the first quarter of 2012. They include Shigenori Soejima Artworks ($39.99), a 160-page softcover collection of Shigenori Soejima’s best artwork from the various Persona video games as well as from other projects including Stella Deus and Momoiro Taisen Pairon plus an exclusive interview with the artist himself.
 
The PIXIV Almanac collects the best artworks from Japan’s ultimate online art community showcasing a variety of colorful anime, manga, and CG art styles.
 
Apple Selection is the latest from the creators of the Apple anthology artbook series of pin-up creations. Apple Selections features dozens of Korea’s top illustrators creating brand new pin-up illustrations.
 
Girl 7 is another collection of gorgeous sexy pin-ups—but this volume is from Udon’s Omar Dogan.
 
Udon is also releasing two additional artbooks based on popular video games, Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV Official Complete Works ($39.99), which is due in January and collects the artwork behind the potent iteration of the fighting games franchise that revitalized the property, and Valkyria Chronicles 2, the second art and design collection from SEGA’s Valkyria Chronicles series.
 
Also at Comic-Con Udon announced the acquisition of the rights to translate and publish an artbook and two-volume manga series based on the extremely popular Sengoku Basara video games developed by Capcom.
