Ed Brubaker has revealed that he will be leaving Captain America after eight years writing the title to devote more time to creator-owned and movie work, he said in an interview on Comics Reporter.  "I hit a point on the work-for-hire stuff where I was starting to feel burned out on it," he said.  He’s now completed his work on Captain America, according to the interview, after a four-issue arc co-written with Cullen Bunn and a final issue.  Brubaker plans to continue writing Winter Soldier for Marvel.

Among other issues Brubaker mentioned were the acceleration of the schedule (along with a number of other Marvel books) to more than 12 issue a year, making it difficult to write all the issues anyway, and the decline in sales and stability on Marvel’s books.
