Comic-Con News: Drawn & Quarterly has acquired North American and U.K. rights to Co-Mix: A Retrospective of Comics, Graphics, and Scraps by Pulitzer Prize-winning comics artist Art Spiegelman.  D&Q’s expanded English edition of Co-Mix is set for publication in the Spring of 2013.  It will feature full page reproductions of Spiegelman’s artwork, comics, and preliminary sketches arranged in chronological order so the viewer can trace the evolution of Spiegelman as a comics artist across the past three decades.

Co-Mix is based on a museum retrospective that was prepared in conjunction with Spiegelman's presidency of the Angouleme Comics Festival.  In 2013 the show will travel to the Vancouver Art Gallery and then to the Jewish museum in New York City.  The French publisher Flammarion published a bi-lingual catalog for the show that formed the basis for D&Q’s expanded English language edition.

Also due from Drawn & Quarterly in 2013 is Ant Colony, a stylish graphic novel from Michale DeForge, a young artist whose style shows the influence of Mark Beyer and other artists who dance around and across the imaginary line that separates comics from fine arts.  Ant Colony is the story of a group of red ants including a couple that adopts an orphan ant and a young ant that has prophetic visions after eating a mystical earthworm.
