NYCC News: Robert Venditti (Surrogates) will write Planet Death, a six-part saga that will see X-O Manowar attempt to save Earth from an alien onslaught by taking the battle to their planet.  Valiant’s first big star-studded storyline of 2013 will begin with a two-part Prelude to Planet Death that will take place in X-O Manowar #9 and #10, which will be written by Venditti and illustrated by Trevor Hairsine (X-Men: Deadly Genesis).

 

Then the invasion of the Earth by aliens known and The Vine begins in earnest in the 4-issue Planet Death saga that begins in X-O Manowar #11, which Venditti is also writing.  Eisner Award-winning artist Cary Nord will handle the art chores for the four-part blockbuster in which X-O Manowar (like his Visigoth ancestors who sacked Rome) takes the battle to the aliens by single-handedly invading their planet and attempting to lay waste to their capitol city.

 

X-O Manowar #9, which includes the first part of Prelude to Planet Death, ships in January with covers by Trevor Hairsine, Cary Nord, and Clayton Crain.
