Dark Horse Comics’ Director of Publicity Jeremy Atkins has confirmed to ICv2 that Dark Horse will be “publishing Star Wars beyond 2013.” The fate of the popular line of Star Wars comics published by Dark Horse has been the source of much speculation since Disney, which had previously purchased Marvel Comics, paid $4 billion for Lucasfilm last October (see "Disney Acquires Lucasfilm!" and "Will 'Star Wars' Comics Stay at Dark Horse?").
Late last year the Disney watchers at the Blue Sky Disney blog reported that the Dark Horse license was up after 2013 and that Marvel would then begin publishing the Star Wars comics (see "No More Dark Horse 'Star Wars'?").
Then in late April came a report (on Bleeding Cool) from the Diamond Summit indicating that the Star Wars comics would stay at Dark Horse at least through the end of 2014.
ICv2 queried Dark Horse about the situation and received a response this week from Atkins, indicating that the publisher had finally received a response from Lucasfilm, "but all we are able to say at this time is that we are publishing Star Wars beyond 2013."
