LucasFilm, along with Disney Publishing Worldwide, has announced that the second annual Star Wars Reads Day will be October 5th.
Publishers ranging from Abrams, Chronicle Books, Dark Horse, Del Rey, DK, Quirk Books, Random House Audio, Scholastic, Titan Magazines, and Workman are all uniting behind the Star Wars initiative and sponsoring author and thematic events at a wide range of booksellers across the nation. The official, confirmed events include Barnes & Noble stores in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Austin, Texas, Carle Place, New York, Madison Wisconsin, Roseville, Minnesota, and Warwick, Rhode Island. Other locations participating in Star Wars Reads Day activities are Cincinnati, Ohio's Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Denver, Colorado's Tattered Cover, New York's The Scholastic Store, Portland, Oregon's Wordstock Festival, Redondo Beach, California's Mysterious Galaxy, Richmond, Virginia's BBGB, San Francisco's Books Inc., and Seattle's University Bookstore. Last year, 30 authors and 1,500 costumed volunteers participated in over 1,200 similar events.
Comic stores, booksellers, and librarians wanting to join in the activities can visit the Star Wars Reads Day site for a free event kit.
