Dynamite Entertainment announced two October launches today:  Cryptozoic Man, the new comic introduced on AMC’s Comic Book Men (about Kevin Smith’s New Jersey comic store); and The Shadow Now, a new series that brings The Shadow into modern times.

Cryptozoic Man, by Comic Book Men stars Bryan Johnson and Walter Flanaghan (Batman:  Cacaphony), was introduced in the second season of the show (see "AMC Renews 'Comic Book Men'"), in which Johnson and Flanaghan developed the concept to pitch to Dynamite.  Stan Lee endorsed the project in a concept video.

The four issue series will tell the story of a middle-aged man whose daughter disappears on a trip to the Pacific Northwest, with aliens, Bigfoot, El Chupachabra, a psychopath, and other fun cryptids.

The Shadow Now will be written by Edgar-winning novelist and comic writer David Liss, with art by Colton Worley.  The six-issue series will bring The Shadow into present day New York after decades in the mystical East, where he rejuvenates himself.  "David Liss is one of those writers who just understands pulp noir," Dynamite CEO Nick Barrucci said.  Tim Bradstreet will contribute a cover for the first issue.
