A Heritage auction with two major Batman pieces has closed, with mid-six figure prices for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns cover art and a high-grade copy of Batman #1. Frank Miller’s cover art for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #2 sold for $478,000, slightly higher than the art for a splash page from #3 that set a record for American original comic art when it was sold back in 2011 (see "Miller Page Goes for $448,125").
In the same auction, a CGC 9.2 copy of Batman #1 was sold for $567,625. This is worth far less, even in that condition, than the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics #27, which sold for $1,075,500 in 2010 in CGC 8.0 (see "Bats Beats Supes").
