Disney has released a new extended trailer for Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World, which opens nationwide of November 8th. The new trailer, which runs nearly 3 minutes does contain some new footage plus shots of the off-world kingdoms where much of the film’s action will take place, and it also makes clear that Thor must seek out his brother Loki, who functioned as the villain in the first Thor film (and The Avengers), in order to combat the new threat at the heart of Thor: The Dark World.
The trailer also provides another example of corporate synergy as it touts the September premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series on September 24th, during which fans will be able to get “an exclusive look” at the upcoming Thor: The Dark World movie. With the debut of Thor: The Dark World less than two months away, Disney has stepped up the pace of promotion for the film (see "New Malekith 'Thor: The Dark World' Poster").
