Spirited Away looks to be on the downside of its U.S. box office lifespan, down to 47 theaters with a gross of only $25,972 last weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.  But it is ending up with respectable numbers, nearing $10 million in total U.S. box office gross since it first opened in theaters last fall.  It's now the fourth biggest anime release U.S. theatrical history, behind three Pokemon flicks and ahead of Digimon:  The Movie in the fifth spot. It peaked at over 700 screens in the first weeks of its broad, post-Oscar release (see 'Spirited Away #16 Last Weekend').

Cowboy Bebop has now pulled ahead of Spirited Away in weekend grosses, with around $30,000 last weekend on only 22 screens.  But it too is down substantially from its initial release (see 'Cowboy Bebop Strong in Limited Opening'), with no sign that it will be released outside of the small number of markets where it's playing now.
