Superman Unchained writer Scott Snyder has confirmed that the first story arc of the new Supes title will be 9-10 issues long, but stopped short of saying that he and artist Jim Lee would be return for the second story arc in the popular ongoing series.  Writing on Twitter, Snyder would only say, "Series is ongoing and Jim and I have said to each other, and publicly, we’re playing it by ear in terms of whether we’ll do the next arc or let someone else.  But we’re enjoying working together a lot, so we’ll see."

Snyder felt the need to reassure fans that Superman Unchained was indeed an ongoing series, after The Los Angeles Times erroneously reported (in an interview with Lee) that "Superman Unchained will run for nine issues."  Did the confusion arise because Lee is only planning on drawing the first nine issues, or was it a simple misunderstanding?  According to Snyder the key decisions about the second arc have not been made yet, so we will have to wait and see what happens with one of the most successful new comic book series in sometime (see "Supes Million Dollar Book Leads June Titles").
