New York Comic Con News: At the Star Wars: Rebels panel Disney and Lucasfilm provided the first look at The Inquisitor, the chief villain in the new Star Wars: Rebels animated series that is slated to debut on the Disney XD network in the fall of 2014 (see "First Look at 'Star Wars: Rebels'"). The tall, gaunt black clad Inquisitor has been charged by Darth Vader with the task of running down and exterminating the final remnants of the Jedi Knights.
Star Wars: Rebels showrunner Dave Filioni produced the two-and-one half minute video introducing the Star Wars: Rebels production team (most of whom worked with Filioni on Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as well as the new Star Wars: Rebels villain. It is clear that the creators of Star Wars: Rebels are having a great time recreating the military hardware (Star Destroyers, Tie Fighters, the Death Star, see "First Very Brief Look at 'Star Wars: Rebels'") from the original trilogy for the new SW: Rebels animated series which is set in a two decade period between Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV--A New Hope as the Empire is attempting to hunt down the final Jedi and the rebellion against the Empire is starting to gain momentum.
In related news Filioni posted on his Facebook page that the final episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be available for viewing in early 2014. He did not specify how many episodes there were (though he did state that the unseen eps do contain one of "Master Yoda’s most challenging missions"), nor whether they would be broadcast or just made available via iTunes or DVD (or all 3).
