DC Comics has revealed some of the major changes that will take place in its Justice League comics starting in April after the end of the Forever War crossover event. Perhaps the biggest surprise is in the composition of the Justice League team in the flagship comic book written by Geoff Johns. The cover to Justice League #30, which is due out in April, shows Lex Luthor front and center, and he is joined by Captain Cold, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Shazam.
Does this cover include all the Justice League members? Superman and Flash are noticeably absent, and there doesn’t appear to be any Green Lantern sightings either. Johns, who revealed the addition of Luthor and Captain Cold to Newsarama, is being coy about the extent of the changes, but they certainly appear to be substantial at this point. Certainly it would be hard to imagine Supes and Lex Luthor working together easily, and Captain Cold’s relationship with Flash is no better. But apparently we will have to wait until April to find out what happens to Supes and Flash in the new alignment.
Major changes are also in store for DC’s Justice League America title. As revealed in USA Today, Justice League America ends in April and will be replaced by a new title Justice League United, which launches with a zero issue written by Jeff Lemire. Lemire told USA Today that the diverse new Justice League United team, which Lemire originally wanted to be called Justice League: Canada, will split its time between Northern Ontario and the far reaches of space. The new JLU team will include holdovers Hawkman, Stargirl, Martian Manhunter, and Green Arrow, who will be joined by new members Adam Strange, Animal Man, and Supergirl. Lemire is also adding a new hero to the team, a superpowered Cree teenager from Northern Ontario where the first JLU story arc largely takes place. Stay tuned for more details.
