Disney has announced a new 2.0 version of Disney Infinity with Marvel characters for release this fall. The new game, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, will feature original storylines by Marvel scribe Brian Michael Bendis and 20 figures of Marvel characters. The first characters for the new game will include the Avengers (Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye), with additional Marvel and Disney characters to be announced later.
The new game will include a new Toy Box mode, which will be compatible with all characters and power discs from last year’s Disney Infinity release, to help players create and share their levels and mini-games with family and friends,
Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes will be released for PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox One and 360, WiiU, PC, and iOS platforms.
News that Marvel and Star Wars characters were headed for Disney infinity was leaked in February (see "Marvel, 'Star Wars' Planned for 'Infinity'"); this is the first formal announcement and character reveal.
