Albert Torres has been signed to write a screenplay for the Locke & Key feature, according to the The Hollywood Reporter. Torres has a relatively limited oeuvre, but worked on a number of geek films, including Ben 10, Akira, and Hyde.
The film is being produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, Bobby Cohen, and IDW Publishing's Ted Adams.
The path to media development of Locke & Key has been a long one, with a pilot that did not lead to a series, and contractual issues to be resolved before work on a movie could begin. It's not clear whether Universal has resolved the issue of the unaired pilot, a remaining potential obstacle (see "'Locke & Key' Movie Tied Up").
