Top Shelf Productions has shared the cover and updated release information for the highly anticipated follow up to John Lewis’ award-winning, New York Times bestselling graphic novel memoir March: Book One. March: Book Two will now release in early 2015.
The second book in the planned trilogy is co-written by Andrew Aydin, with illustration by Nate Powell (Swallow Me Whole). The title is now scheduled to release in early 2015, which differs slightly from the initial company calendar announcement of December earlier this year (see "Publication Date for 'March: Book Two'"). Top Shelf now stated they are targeting a January/February release.
Book Two will be significantly longer than Book One, and moves the narration to 1961 -1963, while continuing to frame the historical events against the backdrop of President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009. The main events covered will include the famous bus journey of the Freedom Riders, the Parchman Penitentiary imprisonment in Mississippi, and young Lewis’ involvement in the planning for the 1963 March on Washington that happened on August 28th.
In addition to the regular trade paperback release (MSRP $19.95), Top Shelf is offering a hardcover edition and a 500-copy limited edition signed and numbered hardcover edition exclusively on their website.
