Marvel has announced the new ongoing series Angela: Asgard’s Assassin, debuting in November.
After a Marvel Universe debut in the Age of Ultron storyline (see "Gaiman Takes Angela to the Marvel Universe"), a run with the Guardians of the Galaxy (see "Marvel Unveils New Angela"), and some personally universe-shaking revelations in Original Sin: Thor & Loki--The Tenth Realm, the angel bounty hunter now has to sort out her Asgardian heritage after she’s cast out of the Tenth Realm.
The series will be written by Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-Men, Young Avengers) and Marguerite Bennett (Batgirl), with art by Phil Jimenez (Wonder Woman, Team Titans) and Stephanie Hans (Journey into Mystery, Suicide Risk). While the main cover artist has not been announced, Stephanie Hans will provide a variant cover.
Gaiman created the character of Angela for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, but ending up suing McFarlane and regaining control of the character after a protracted legal battle (see "Gaiman, McFarlane Settle"). In 2013, Gaiman announced that he was taking Angela to Marvel. When she was announced as appearing in GotG, Marvel indicated that Gaiman would be the co-writer on Guardians of the Galaxy #5, but in July, Marvel downgraded Gaiman’s credit on the issue from "co-writer" to "consultant" (see "Marvel Releases Images of Angela from 'Guardians' #5"), and it’s interesting to note that his name appears nowhere in the solicitation material for this title.
