The planned remake of James O’Barr’s The Crow has a new, relatively unknown director attached, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting.
Corin Hardy has directed a score of music videos and independent shorts, but has no feature credits to his name. F. Javier Gutierrez was attached to direct back in 2013 (see "James O'Barr Creates New Poster for 'The Crow'"), but has apparently moved on.
Here’s hoping the oft-stalled remake finally gets rolling. The merchandising for the 25-year-old property is certainly still viable. Upper Deck signed an agreement earlier this year with Pressman Film Corporation to have access to the existing body of movies, TV shows, and comics (see "'Crow' License, 'Firefly Dice Game,' 'Legendary: Marvel Villains'"). They are considering releasing card games, board games, trading cards, limited edition posters and other merchandise.
The most recent Crow comic was The Crow: Pestilence miniseries, released earlier this year (see "IDW Readies New 'Crow' Comic").
