Toycom has released photos and details of two 6-inch action figures based on the .hack//SIGN anime series directed by Kouichi Mashimo (Noir). Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Nadia) is the character designer responsible for Mimaru and Subaru, two of the cutest denizens of the virtual online world created for the dot hack property, which extends across numerous media platforms, including TV anime, OVA, videogame, mobile phone game, novel, manga, and collectible card game. The Dot Hack anime has had a considerable run on the Cartoon Network and has done very well for Bandai, while Tokyopop's Dot Hack manga has been equally successful (see 'Dot Hack Tops Graphic Novels in Bookstores'). Decipher has just released its Dot Hack CCG (see 'Decipher Launches Dot Hack CCG'), so it appears that Toycom's Dot Hack figures, which ship in December, should be right on time.
Mimaru, the sword-wielding schoolgirl, comes with her giant blade and highly detail paint applications. Subaru, despite her giant axe, is a comparatively gentle character, as one might discern from her sexy Little Bo Peep costume. The two figures are approximately six inches high and come with articulated neck, arms, wrists, waists and legs. The figures have a suggested retail price of $11.99 each.
