DC Direct is preparing a series of four action figures based on Frank Miller's seminal The Dark Knight Returns saga for a July release. Figures.com broke the story of these unique action figures, which include an aging, bulky Batman, a mesomorphic Superman, the Joker with his talking doll, and Carrie Kelly as the female Robin. The figures, which have multiple points of articulation, range from nearly five inches (Robin) to 7.5' for Batman and Superman. Each figure comes with a sidewalk base and accessories, and will be packed in a four-color window box. Frank Miller fans will marvel at the way sculptor Tom Bruckner was able to capture the weighty essence of Miller's gritty depiction of the Dark Knight in extremis.
