Phillipe Druillet's post-apocalyptic take on the legendary vampire Nosferatu is the subject of a computer-generated animated film currently being produced by Wolfland Pictures in France.  Druillet, one of the four founding 'fathers' of Metal Hurlant (Heavy Metal), is supervising the film himself.  Jean Rochefort will voice the vampire in this gothic horror comedy.  Dark Horse Comics published Druillet's Nosferatu in English in 1991, and the title is still listed on Dark Horse's Website and is apparently still in print.

While the immense success of anime has naturally received the most worldwide attention, European animation also appears to be flourishing.  The Triplets of Belleville has received a theatrical release in the U.S. that most anime features can only dream about, and many interesting animated projects are currently under development in Europe.  Wolfland Pictures, for example, which is developing Druillet's Nosferatu, has also produced Arzak Rhapsody, a 14-episode animated series based on the work of Moebius (Jean Giraud).   Arzak Rhapsody, which appeared on the France 2 network, is billed as the only animated series conceived, drawn, colored and directed by Moebius.
